Hybrid 48VDC power supply project
For a customer in Croatia, we designed and manufactured a hybrid power supply system to power wind potential measurement instruments at an altitude of 1700 meters.
MPS1500W – Modular Power Supply with a power of 1500 W/48VDC
The system enables efficient equipment powering in places where there is no permanent electricity connection in an efficient way with minimal fuel consumption and minimal impact on the environment.
Project task
The customer demanded a continuous power source of 500 W that enables uninterrupted operation at an altitude of 1700 meters with minimal fuel consumption. Additionally, the system had to provide 72 hours of battery autonomy in case of diesel electric generator failure and use of solar panels as alternative power sources.
Solution
MEP employees created the project and made modifications to an L8 ISO container within 30 days to create a hybrid power supply system. We insulated the standard ISO container with mineral wool of 120 mm thickness and made necessary modifications to the structure. We installed the ELTEK Flatpack hybrid power supply system that combines power from the diesel generator and solar panels with a 48VDC battery set with a capacity of 700 Ah. The hybrid system is equipped with automation for optimal operation, which consumes the minimum amount of fuel.
Robust solution for powering telecommunication equipment at 48VDC!
The system is equipped with remote monitoring via a GSM/LTE router, which enables monitoring of all system operating parameters as well as their adjustments. Additionally, sensors for fuel level in the tank, fuel spillage, temperature, ventilation, door opening, and all parameters of the hybrid system have been installed.
SOLAR PANELS AND DIESEL GENERATOR
Solar panels with a maximum power of 1500W have been installed and fixed on the container roof with a special substructure for harsh weather conditions. A professional SDMO diesel electric generator with a capacity of 6000VA and external starting power has been installed to operate in extreme conditions. It is equipped with a 500-liter fuel tank, which provides system autonomy for up to 4 months without the need for refueling.
OTHER
After testing in the factory and successful handover, the system was delivered to the location in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We expect the equipment to be installed and put into operation during January 2021.
